TINTYPE PORTRAITURE
2014 - This project was a long and tiring one. It took over a month to finally perfect the process and even then there were a whole series of problems that got into the way. Using two cameras I ended up with several 3x4 photographs on tin and one 8x10.
GENDER BASED STUDIES
2015 - Two sets of images that depict themes revolving around western perceptions of masculinity and femininity within the depictions created in the diptych series. The sequence photographs depicting a blow up doll and male model on a disturbing date at the park were created in the mindset of what some males perceive women as and a visual representation of how they are treated.
CYANOTYPES
2014 - The cyanotype process ended up being one of my favorites from my Fall 2014 semester. I ended up creating one series of 7 pieces centered around a theme of child abuse awareness. I also did a test print on fabric of Kim Kardashian crying as part of my constant examination of media messages.
LUMENPRINT & ANTHROTYPE PROCESSES
2014 - One of the most interesting processes I discovered in my Fall 2014 semester was the Lumen print and Anthrotype processes. For Anthrotypes, you have to coat a sheet of paper in a designated liquid then set in the sunlight with a negative over the surface inside of a contact printer in order to have the image burn to the surface. For the two below (the purple toned prints) I coated them in a passionfruit tea and let them set out for five weeks. For the Lumen prints I ended up letting them sit under a silkscreen light unit for 30 minutes on standard Kodak 8.5x11 light sensitive photographic paper.
