Mixed Media Work
Paintings - Mixed Media - Silkscreen Paintings
Current Work
2020. My goal with my present fine art work is to visually thread together the strings of toxic masculinity and its links to repressed homosexuality, misogyny and hatred. This new mixed media series is still in the early stages. These pieces combine paint, ink, distressing agents & more to create the final work.
Americana Series
2015 - 2019. My exploration of social themes with visual language. Commentating on heavily gendered culture as it presents itself to me within a style replicating and critiquing idyllic American reminiscence.
Artist Statement
When we are young we are taught early on to put ourselves into labeled boxes. These boxes define us by gender, race, and sexual orientation. For me personally, my work is defined by the LGBTQ walk of life, defining what it means to have this identity and showcasing as many aspects that this beautiful community has.
It is easier for humanity to view us based on these generalizations however my goal as an artist is to break down these barriers. Social barriers and taboos have been my main goals of examination with visual imagery. I am enthralled by exploring these traits that define all of us and breaking down some of the walls of the boxes we are put into early on. Identity is something all humans struggle with at points in life, and through my own struggle I have found a method of exploration with mainly mixed media pieces and photography. These are my approaches to offering alternative perspectives to the casual viewer to my work. Life should never be viewed through one lens, and viewing society from multiple perspectives fuels my artist engine. It is what drives me to continue growing as a visual storyteller, to offer my voice into this growing conversation about what defines us as humans.
